Our story, thus far…

Career priorities change, I want my time to be spent working to live rather than living to work.

I love wood, I love its warmth, texture, stability & strength. I love how it feels under foot. I love how it can be shaped to fit just about any space for any requirement. I love its smell.

In my past life, I ran a garden design & landscaping business, and part of this was providing my client’s with bespoke pieces for their new space. These ranged from simple structures such as raised beds to more complicated builds like custom decks to garden kitchens to sheltered entertainment areas with bespoke seating.

With a recent change in my personal circumstances, I’m keen to re-establish the carpentry side of this business. And I’m going to do so with gusto!

Now you may ask yourself why ‘blunt axe’ design. One of my most coveted tools is my carpenters axe, and while an axe should never be allowed to go blunt, those that do certainly have a story to tell… much like the rings of an ancient oak, or the beautiful reclaimed timbers we aim to use for our projects.

A blunt axe always has a space in my tool box.

Our Philosophy

As often as possible, we’ll use reclaimed timber.  In a world now focused on being NATURE POSITIVE, the last thing we want to do is work against the grain.

We source our raw materials from trusted suppliers across the UK, using the most local options when they’re made available to us. Should the job require recently processed timber, we will always work with small, independent sawmills to ensure our clients’s requirements are front & centre, and that nature and this precious resource are treated as sensitively as possible.
